I have embedded a USB key with my album into the keys of my first Inside-Out Piano, made in 2008 from an old upright. They're rubber stamped and genuinely Limited Edition: only 85 keys in total, each individually numbered in the original carving. I'm selling these at the live shows, so get one while they last!
N.B. Pick a black or white key: with the black keys the USB is separate, so you can more easily load it into your computer. Up to you!

Sarah Nicolls' first album of her own music: lyrical piano songs created on her own, unique Inside-Out Pianos. This music is simple melody shrouded in strange sounds.

Leafcutter John, the album producer, says “This recording is much more than a dry exploration of the piano as a sound source. It moves in waves, each new tide surfacing new information about the sonic environment. Sarah’s deepening connection and mastery of her self-made ‘inside-out piano’ is audible as she strokes, hammers and bows it vividly into life.

A strong sense of purpose combined with the confidence to let a little chance into the recording results in music that is both beguiling and beautiful. There are such a finely judged and surprising combinations here, ‘Warm’ is built upon the spine of a dull emerging pulse, ending up in an exultant vocal phrase. Like most of the pieces on this record the music offers the listener more than one route through and there are plenty of jewel like details scattered in the grass.

Listening to this music is like the discovery of a fantastically populated rock pool on the bleakest rainy day.”

Magic in its purest form. I love Floating Points, I love Pharoah Sanders, I love The London Symphony Orchestra. It's a match made in heaven, and the result is absolutely gorgeous.
